Steelers | More details on Le'Veon Bell's offer

Tue, 17 Jul 2018 14:11:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's five-year, $70 million long-term offer included a $10 million fully guaranteed signing bonus. Bell would have earned $33 million over the first two years in a rolling guaranteed structure and $45 million over the first three years.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell likely to skip camp again

Tue, 17 Jul 2018 10:29:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is tentatively expected to skip training camp but report before the start of the regular season, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who also stated Bell potentially missing games over his contract would be "a shock."

Fantasy Tip: This would be the expected outcome since Bell did the same thing last season. Although owners do not want to hear it, Bell is perhaps the riskiest player going in the early first round of drafts this spring and summer. Not only could he change his mind at any time and choose not to report until midseason, but he is entering this season with a new coordinator and coming off a 400-touch season. Missing camp just heightens his risk for injury.

Steelers | James Conner impressed team in spring

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 17:08:51 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner was "very impressive during the spring" and "really looks like he can be a solid every down running back in this league," according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic.

Fantasy Tip: No one is going to confuse Conner for Bell, but everyone from Ben Roethlisberger to the coaching staff has sung the praises of the second-year back this year. With Bell likely done in Pittsburgh after this season, the 23-year-old's fantasy dynasty value just got a nice little boost. While he figures to have little to no redraft fantasy value if Le'Veon Bell doesn't hold out, Conner can make a strong case for being the most valuable handcuff in the league.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell was offered five-year deal

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 15:38:12 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was offered a five-year deal worth $70 million before the deadline passed Monday, July 16. The offer included $30 million over the first two years of the deal. Last year's final offer was five years for $60 million. As was reported earlier, Bell will play on the franchise tag this year to the tune of $14.5 million.

Steelers | No holdout for Le'Veon Bell?

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 13:34:46 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell seemed to indicate on his Twitter that he will not be holding out this season. Bell apologized to Pittsburgh fans that a long-term deal was not accomplished and said the 2018 season would be his best yet.

Steelers | No deal for Le'Veon Bell

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 13:00:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was not signed to a long-term deal prior to the deadline Monday, July 16. He will play on his $14.5 million franchise tag and is now slated to be a free agent in 2019.

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Bell holds out into the regular season remains to be seen, but it's unlikely that he would choose to forfeit millions of dollars by doing so. Assuming he does not hold out, he arguably remains the No. 1 fantasy football target.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell deal doubtful?

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 05:24:53 -0700

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell negotiated all weekend, but parties aren't optimistic a long-term deal will get done. It's expected to go down to the wire Monday, July 16.

Fantasy Tip: Nothing changes from a fantasy perspective if a deal doesn't get done. Bell remains an elite RB1 in fantasy.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell extension close to getting done?

Sun, 15 Jul 2018 11:04:49 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell "wants to get the deal done" ahead of the July 16 deadline for signing players on the franchise tag to a long-term extension, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Both sides have expressed optimism in recent days, but unless the Steelers are willing to reset the market - and then some - for running backs, it seems unlikely there will be an agreement reached in just over 24 hours. As dynamic as Bell is, it doesn't make a ton of sense to give him the megadeal he desires as he comes off a 400-plus touch season. Based on the recent history of running backs coming off such high-usage seasons, Bell is a prime candidate to disappoint owners in 2018.

Steelers | Deadline closing in for Le'Veon Bell

Sat, 14 Jul 2018 12:21:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has made some progress in long-term contract talks with the Steelers, but it is still uncertain whether the two sides will reach a deal before the July 16 deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is facing the deadline for the second straight year, so owners should monitor the situation to see if he will receive a new deal. He likely will hold out until the start of the regular season if he has to play on the franchise tender. Bell is still one of the top performers in fantasy football and will be a top five pick in all drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell has one week

Mon, 09 Jul 2018 13:13:04 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has exactly one week to sign a long-term deal before he potentially holds out.

Fantasy Tip: It's another offseason with more drama from the Steelers and Bell. Don't be surprised to see him hold out from training camp. For now, he maintains his status as a top-three fantasy draft pick.
