Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald will end career in desert

Tue, 17 Jul 2018 11:15:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald made it clear Tuesday, July 17, that as long as he is playing professional football he will be playing for the Cardinals. "I've built a good life for myself down there. Playing in the same place for 15 years is a true blessing."

Fantasy Tip: Playing one's whole career - especially one as long as Fitzgerald's - is indeed rare in the modern NFL. Fitz hasn't lost a step either. At 34 years old he has averaged 108.3 catches for 1,131.3 yards and 7.0 touchdowns over the last three seasons. He's a solid PPR WR1 candidate even with a new quarterback and coaching staff.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald could play longer

Tue, 17 Jul 2018 06:19:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald hinted that he isn't close to retiring. He still feels good, enjoys the competition and loves being around his teammates. He also said he's either playing for the Cardinals or retiring. "It doesn't really matter about the age, it's about what you put into it and your mindset," Fitzgerald said. "Everybody kind of takes numbers and assumes this is when it's supposed to end. As an athlete, fortunately, you write your own script. If you still produce and you play at a high level, you kind of determine how long you want to play. If I can stay at a high level, I still keep destiny in my own hands."

Fantasy Tip: Fitz has tallied 100 catches and 1,000 yards in each of the last three seasons, and only Antonio Brown has matched that feat. He'll be 35 in August, but he's still a very good WR2 in fantasy.

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin loving life in the slot

Tue, 10 Jul 2018 20:22:29 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin has amassed an NFL-high 2,315 yards from the slot over the past three seasons, 58 more than second-place Jarvis Landry and 364 more than third-place Larry Fitzgerald.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald a lock for 100 grabs?

Sat, 07 Jul 2018 19:45:11 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald can be counted on to "catch more than 100 passes for more than 1,000 yards" this season, in the opinion of Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald has surpassed those marks in both categories in each of the last three seasons, so it's hard to bet against a repeat performance in 2018. Draft him as a low-risk WR2 with even more value in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald coming back

Thu, 15 Feb 2018 07:00:29 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald announced Thursday, Feb. 15, that he'll return for the 2018 season.

Fantasy Tip: He'll be 35 in August, but he has continued to be a dangerous possession receiver the last few years. He has averaged 108 grabs for 1,131 yards and seven scores per season the last three years. There are questions about who will throw to him, but he has remained consistent despite that. Look at him as a high-end WR2 in fantasy.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald's salary guaranteed

Mon, 12 Feb 2018 23:35:38 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald's $11 million salary became guaranteed on Friday, Feb. 9. However, this does not impact his retirement decision. If he chooses to retire, he would not receive that money.

Fantasy Tip: A decision from Fitzgerald is expected before the end of the month. If he indeed returns, he'll remain a WR2 going into next season, though there's a decent possibility he sees his numbers drop based on some significant changes in Arizona. Fitzgerald will have a new starting quarterback throwing to him -- a position still not filled -- while also playing under a new head coach that could bring out all sorts of variables.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald nearing contract deadline

Fri, 09 Feb 2018 11:08:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald's $11 million base salary for 2018 will be guaranteed if he is remains on the roster Friday, Feb. 9. Fitzgerald still has not decided if he will play next season or retire.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald said during Super Bowl week that he would decide on his future in a week or two, so owners should monitor the situation over the next few days. He would still be a solid fantasy receiver in all leagues if he continues playing.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald to make decision soon

Sun, 04 Feb 2018 11:50:04 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald said he expects to decide on his playing future in the next week or two.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald posted solid numbers in 2017 but probably would be working with a new quarterback if he decides to return next season. He would still be a solid fantasy option if he continues his playing career and can be at least a No. 3 receiver for owners.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald won't play anywhere else?

Wed, 31 Jan 2018 18:35:45 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald won't play for another team if he decides to return, according to his father Larry Fitzgerald Sr. in an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "If it's not with the Cardinals, we've seen the last of Larry Fitzgerald in the National Football League wearing No. 11," he said. Fitzgerald Sr. added that his son "really wants to get a championship ring, there's no doubt about that."

Fantasy Tip: While other reports have Fitzgerald leaning towards returning for his 15th season, this one might indicate the opposite, as it sounds like winning would be the main reason for him to keep playing. However, the Cardinals are in a different situation now, having a new head coach and starting quarterback going into Week 1 of next year, and with the increasing difficulty of the NFC West, Arizona suddenly could be on a rebuilding trail. We'll hopefully find out soon.
