Chargers | Austin Ekeler has broken hand

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 09:30:48 -0800

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hand) suffered a broken hand during the team's Week 15 game and will miss the rest of the 2017 season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Melvin Gordon will receive most of the work at running back in the last two games of the season and should be a No. 2 running back or flex option in both games.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler injures hand

Sat, 16 Dec 2017 20:09:32 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hand) suffered a hand injury against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Dec. 16, and is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: If Ekeler's injury turns out to be serious, it will mean even more touches for the already busy Melvin Gordon.

Chargers | Six total touches for Austin Ekeler

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 16:51:51 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler rushed four times for 19 yards in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns and he added two receptions for 21 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler has been a decent RB3 or flex fantasy play in leagues of 12 or more teams, but he'll likely need something to happen to Melvin Gordon before he is a fantasy must-start across the board.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler involved in passing game

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 17:43:07 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler caught three passes for 55 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. He also rushed for 15 yards on six carries against the game.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler has been involved in the running and passing game over the last few months and will continue to receive a decent amount of touches each game. He has a chance to be a flex option in deeper leagues next week because of the matchup.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler totals 58 yards, TD

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 20:02:31 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler rushed six times for 40 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills and he added two receptions for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler has been carving out a nice little role for himself recently, although Melvin Gordon still continues to be the unquestioned No. 1 back. Still, Ekeler has proven he can be relied upon as an RB3 or flex fantasy option. The Chargers meet the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in Week 12.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler doing a lot with a little

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 19:31:54 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler is tied for 33rd among running backs in yards from scrimmage (184) since Week 7 - the same time he went from primarily special teams player to one participating in roughly a third of the team's offensive plays - and tied for fifth among running backs with three total touchdowns despite logging only 31 offensive touches (19 carries) over that time.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler put on a show in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with two touchdowns and is averaging five yards per carry for the season, while starter Melvin Gordon is at 3.8 and former handcuff Branden Oliver is at 3.1. Gordon isn't losing his job anytime soon, but the fact Ekeler has been on the field for at least 30 percent of the team's offensive snaps in three straight games indicates he is the back to pursue as a handcuff.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler breaks out

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 19:05:40 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler ran 10 times for 42 yards and a fumble and caught five passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's too soon to call Ekeler the next Danny Woodhead for the Chargers' offense, but his usage is creeping up, and he could have flex value in PPR formats going forward. He needs to be owned in almost all leagues at this point.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler totals 44 yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:20:44 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler rushed seven times for 38 yards in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos and he added four receptions for six yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler picked up the slack with Melvin Gordon struggling a bit against Denver's front seven. The rookie is pretty shifty and appears to be someone head coach Anthony Lynn wants to incorporate much into the plan, sort of like a poor man's Danny Woodhead. However, as long as Gordon is healthy then Ekeler's fantasy ceiling is rather limited.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler doesn't do much

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 17:01:56 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler rushed four times for zero yards and he added three catches for 28 yards on six targets in Week 5 against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Anthony Lynn said earlier in the week that he wanted to get Ekeler more touches, and the rookie did see a bump in action after one run and five catches through the first four games. Still, he'll need to do a lot more before he is a fantasy regular.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler to see more action

Tue, 03 Oct 2017 12:53:43 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler is expected to see an uptick in action going forward, as the team looks for ways to get the ball in his hands.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler has five receptions for 47 yards and he took his first NFL handoff 35 yards for a score in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He isn't someone to target yet outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues, but he is a player to monitor going forward as the struggling Chargers look for a spark.
