Seahawks | Chris Carson works with trainer

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:04:44 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (undisclosed) worked on the side with a training in practice Monday, Aug. 13, running from sideline to sideline on a different field from the team.

Fantasy Tip: Carson has been receiving rave reviews early in training camp, so it's uncertain if Carson has suffered a new injury or the team was just being cautious as he returns from a broken leg. He has rookie Rashaad Penny to contend with in the backfield, but right now Carson isn't a bad back to scoop up as an RB5.

Seahawks | Chris Carson continues to run with first team

Fri, 27 Jul 2018 12:57:32 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has worked as the No. 1 running back ahead of Rashaad Penny through the first two days of training camp, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson.

Fantasy Tip: It's further proof head coach Pete Carroll wasn't blowing when he said Carson may have been the most impressive player on the team during offseason workouts. Owners need to wrap their minds around the possibility Carson could begin the year as the starter and potentially hold the job all season long, although a committee at some point seems like a more likely scenario. Penny is being considerably overvalued as a fourth-round pick in many fantasy drafts, while Carson's 10th-round ADP makes him a great value.

Seahawks | Rashaad Penny has work to do

Mon, 23 Jul 2018 17:13:28 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny needs to show steady growth in Seattle's passing game - including catching the ball, stonewalling edge rushers and picking up protection calls just before the snap - during camp and preseason games in order to have a chance to share snaps and carries with Chris Carson by the season opener Sept. 9 at Denver, according to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune.

Fantasy Tip: Early drafters have written off Carson as if last year's four-game sample was just a figment of their imagination. Penny has reportedly done a good job picking up protection calls so far, but his college tape suggests he's not very good at executing them physically - at least not yet. The most likely outcome is the two backs sharing touches for as long as both remain healthy. Penny is hard to buy at his current fourth-round ADP, while Carson is a screaming value in the 10th.

Seahawks | Chris Carson the top back in Seattle?

Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:52:48 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson is the No. 1 running back on the depth chart entering training camp, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.

Fantasy Tip: After spending a first-round pick on Rashaad Penny, the rookie is going to have a role. However, it sounds like Carson could at least push him for carries. Penny has the better long-term value, but Carson is worth grabbing as a RB5.

Seahawks | Chris Carson most impressive RB in Seattle?

Fri, 15 Jun 2018 11:54:03 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has been "the most impressive of any running back (in the team's offseason practices) this summer", and general manager John Schneider has said that at times Carson looks like the best player on the field, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson.

Fantasy Tip: While the Seahawks couldn't have known Carson was going to drop their jaws when they drafted Rashaad Penny in April, it was clear running back was far from their biggest need. Carson was the best back in Seattle last season by a wide margin, and it now appears he stands a real chance to push Penny hard for the starting job. Early drafters should not hesitate spending a late-round pick on Carson in the event he forces a backfield split or even possibly wins the starting job in the preseason.

Seahawks | Chris Carson working with the starters

Wed, 13 Jun 2018 23:22:31 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has been working with the first-team offense and ahead of rookie RB Rashaad Penny during minicamp. Carson earned praise from head coach Pete Carroll during OTAs as well.

Fantasy Tip: It's still too early to jump to any conclusions, but Carson continues to get rave reviews, and Seattle showed with the Matt Flynn-Russell Wilson situation years ago that they'll go with the best player regardless of investment. Keep an eye on Carson as we get into training camp and the preseason.

Seahawks | Chris Carson impressing

Thu, 07 Jun 2018 18:28:55 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has "stood out" during OTAs, head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday, June 7.

Fantasy Tip: Carson should open the year as the backup to Rashaad Penny, putting him in RB4 territory for now. If Penny happens to struggle or suffers an injury, Carson could push into flex territory.

Seahawks | Chris Carson standing out

Thu, 07 Jun 2018 16:50:18 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson, who is now healthy from last season's ankle injury, has "stood out" during organized team activities, according to head coach Pete Carroll, from a physical conditioning standpoint. Carroll gushed how "he hasn't missed one snap of anything" and "he's just looked so fit and just so cut and quick and explosive and all of that."

Fantasy Tip: If Seattle's backfield situation wasn't so crowded, Carson would be looking like a legit RB2 entering summer fantasy drafts, but alas, the 2017 rookie will have heavy competition just to solidify a useful role within this offense. If he emerges with a set workload, Carson will be someone worth selecting.

Seahawks | Chris Carson bulking up

Fri, 01 Jun 2018 18:52:03 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson said he has added about 10 pounds and feels "a lot more solid" than he did last season.

Fantasy Tip: Carson looked like the frontrunner to start in 2018 after flashing some potential last year, but Seattle then spent a first-round pick on Rashaad Penny. Carson looks like a RB4 at this point but is worth stashing in case Penny struggles.

Seahawks | Pete Carroll talks up Chris Carson

Fri, 25 May 2018 21:37:40 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (ankle) is in "extraordinary condition" following ankle surgery last year, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Carson flashed some potential in four games last year before suffering the injury, but first-round pick Rashaad Penny will likely lead the backfield in 2018, dropping Carson into RB4 territory.
