Packers | Aaron Jones to emerge as starter?

Tue, 17 Jul 2018 21:48:29 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones will end up as the team's starting running back this season in the opinion of USA Today Network Wisconsin's Stu Courtney.

Fantasy Tip: Courtney cites Jones' talent, favorably comparing his stats to those of Minnesota's Dalvin Cook, and the endorsement of Aaron Rodgers as the reasons that Jones will eventually become Green Bay's RB1. Between his two-game suspension and durability concerns dating back to UTEP, however, Jones still carries plenty of downside. Consider him a mid-round stash candidate.

Packers | Aaron Jones another suspension victim

Tue, 03 Jul 2018 13:07:56 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones has been suspended for the first two games of the 2018 season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was considered by many to be the best running back among Green Bay's backfield triumvirate. He still can be, but Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery have gained a little more value with Jones out two games. All three of them are now mid-round options.

Packers | Aaron Jones has added weight

Mon, 02 Jul 2018 12:14:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones said he's bigger all around this offseason after spending more time in the weight room. Bulking up was a priority for Jones in an effort to improve his pass blocking and to sustain the wear and tear of the NFL. Neither Jones nor running backs coach Ben Sirmans believe more pounds have slowed down Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay's backfield will be one of the more intriguing ones to track during training camp and in the preseason. Jones must hold off Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery in order to see the majority of touches. It seems that Jones is the early favorite to achieve the most success of the three, but drafting any of them is playing with fire to a certain extent.

Packers | Aaron Jones needs to improve blocking

Wed, 27 Jun 2018 23:32:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones needs to improve his work in pass protection to see more time on the field, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Aaron Nagler, who says Jones is lagging behind RB Jamaal Williams in that department.

Fantasy Tip: There's no doubt that keeping Aaron Rodgers healthy is the top priority in Green Bay, so Jones' shortcomings in that area could absolutely impact his fantasy value. While everyone is expecting a committee, it figures to be a fluid situation and one that should be monitored throughout the preseason.

Packers | Green Bay to use committee at RB

Mon, 18 Jun 2018 10:25:14 -0700

Green Bay Packers RBs Ty Montgomery, Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones will be part of a committee at running back this upcoming season, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy said the team will be able to adjust if one of the running backs shows they can be the full-time starter.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the preseason to see how each running back is used. Montgomery probably is the best receiver out of the three, but Williams and Jones are also decent receivers. All three will have value in fantasy leagues but none will be more than No. 3 running backs unless one takes over the starting job.

Packers | Ty Montgomery to have big role?

Mon, 11 Jun 2018 13:06:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery seems to be set for a big role in 2018, according to ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the offense is suited for Montgomery's skill set and the Packers need to take advantage of that. Nevertheless, McCarthy admitted that he will continue to take a committee approach with the backfield with RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams included.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay's backfield will be one of the tougher backfields to figure out this offseason. Each of the three running backs flashed at different points in 2017. They can all bring something to the table, but Jones appears to have the most upside. Either way, none of them should be drafted as higher than an RB2.

Packers | Aaron Jones pleads no contest

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 23:17:26 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones pleaded no contest Wednesday, Feb. 28, to one of three charges filed against him stemming from an incident in which he was pulled over for speeding and admitted to having smoked marijuana. The judge accepted his plea to a traffic citation for driving with a controlled substance in his system, while dismissing tickets for speeding and operating without a license. Jones was fined $1,047, had his license suspended for six months and was ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment.

Fantasy Tip: The takeaway from this is that Jones will most likely face some sort of disciplinary action from the NFL under its substance-abuse policy. It would be unfortunate if this ultimately costs him playing time, too, as Jones enjoyed a fine rookie campaign for a fifth-round draft pick, finishing second on the club in carries and yards, and he also tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns. He also averaged 5.5 yards per carry, so there is potential for the 23-year-old.

Packers | Aaron Jones looking to strengthen legs

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 13:44:13 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones will work on strengthening his legs this offseason so he can hopefully avoid medial collateral ligament tears, according to running backs coach Ben Sirmans.

Fantasy Tip: Jones had a few good games this season but lost his job and could be the No. 3 running back in 2018. Owners should keep an eye on his situation next season because he could be a late-round option in deeper leagues if he has a solid role.
