49ers | Two 49ers out until Week 1

Fri, 10 Aug 2018 16:07:56 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (shoulder) and TE George Kittle (shoulder) both suffered separated shoulders during the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 9, and will both be sidelined until Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Breida and Kittle both have a chance to be solid contributors on offense for the 49ers this season if healthy. Breida can be a low-end No. 3 or a No. 4 running back in most leagues, while Kittle should be seen as a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (shoulder) did not sustain any tears or structural damage to his separated shoulder Thursday, Aug. 10. CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco speculates the injury is most likely a sprain that will sideline Kittle a couple of weeks.

49ers | George Kittle to miss time

Thu, 09 Aug 2018 23:34:55 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (shoulder) will miss "some time" with a shoulder injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. While there's no timetable as of yet, Shanahan indicated he doesn't expect Kittle to be available to practice next week.

Fantasy Tip: Although we still don't know the full extent, the fact that it's a shoulder injury and not a collarbone is welcome news, especially given how Kittle looked exiting the game. Stay tuned for more details, but for now it looks like Kittle dodged a bullet and remains an interesting TE1 candidate.

49ers | George Kittle poised to produce?

Sun, 15 Jul 2018 20:14:00 -0700

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle should have "no shortage of opportunities" in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, and Wagoner believes Kittle will benefit from having QB Jimmy Garoppolo throwing him the ball for the entire season.

Fantasy Tip: Kittle was a surprise contributor as a rookie last year, finishing with 515 receiving yards. He managed 194 yards in the final three games, teasing what he and Garoppolo might be capable of. He's a low-end TE1 with upside.

49ers | George Kittle added more muscle

Tue, 26 Jun 2018 02:57:52 -0700

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle took steps to add more muscle mass during the offseason in hopes that it will prevent some of the injuries that bothered him throughout last season. He's also been practicing catching the ball away from his body during informal throwing sessions with QBs Jimmy Garoppolo and C.J. Beathard.

Fantasy Tip: There's no doubt Kittle has the potential to be one of the top breakout candidates at the tight end position in 2018. In his rookie campaign a year ago, he put up some respectable numbers and was more productive once Garoppolo took over under center, as Kittle registered 15 catches for 224 yards in the final five games. Now that he's fully healthy, he could build on last season.
