San Francisco 49ers LB Reuben Foster's ex-girlfriend told a court on Thursday, May 17, that she lied about an alleged domestic violence incident in order to get Foster in trouble because she was upset with him. Additionally, she also confessed to trying to get domestic violence charges against a different boyfriend in 2011 when he tried to end the relationship.

San Francisco 49ers LB Reuben Foster has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence charges. A total of three felony charges levied against Foster carry a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison. Foster's girlfriend, the alleged victim, has already taken back her accusations. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 17.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers LB Reuben Foster faces more than 11 years in prison if he is convicted on his felony domestic violence and other charges. The 49ers said in a statement that they are aware of the allegations against Foster and that his position with the organization is under great scrutiny and will depend on what is gleaned from the legal process.

San Francisco 49ers LB Reuben Foster has officially been charged with felony domestic violence. The charge is a result from an alleged incident in February for which Foster was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, making criminal threats and possession of an assault weapon. Foster is also charged with felony counts of forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime and possession of an assault weapon. Additionally, he faces a charge for misdemeanor possession of a large capacity weapon magazine. The second-year linebacker is expected to be arraigned in court Thursday, April 12.
