Chiefs | Kansas City makes coaching changes

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced the following promotions on the coaching staff Monday, Jan. 29: Mike Kafka to quarterbacks coach, Mark DeLeone to inside linebackers coach, Mike Smith to outside linebackers coach, Corey Matthaei to assistant offensive line coach, Joe Bleymaier to assistant quarterbacks coach, and Terry Bradden to defensive quality control coach. Additionally, Jay Valai and David Girardi were hired as quality control coaches. Special projects coach Tommy Brasher will retire, while linebackers coach Gary Gibbs will not return.

Chiefs | Staff changes made

Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, head coach Andy Reid's son, was promoted to defensive line coach. Assistant defensive backs coach Al Harris was promoted to secondary coach with an emphasis on cornerbacks. Assistant quarterbacks coach Corey Matthaei will also work with the offensive line. Assistant linebackers coach Mark DeLeone will have an expanded role on defense.

The Chiefs also hired Joe Bleymaier to serve as offensive quality control coach, Taylor Embree as a defensive assistant, Mike X. Smith as assistant defensive line coach and Devin Woodhouse and Ryan Reynolds as part of the strength and conditioning staff.
