Bears | Trey Burton impresses

Sat, 18 Aug 2018 21:23:10 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton caught four passes on five targets for 45 yards and touchdown against the Denver Broncos in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Burton is positioned for a possible breakout campaign, and if you wait until late in your draft to address the tight end position, he could be worth taking a chance on as a low-end TE1.

Bears | Trey Burton the No. 2 option?

Sun, 08 Jul 2018 19:39:14 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton could be second in the pecking order behind WR Allen Robinson for targets this year, in the opinion of Bryan Perez of CSNChicago.com.

Fantasy Tip: Burton unproven as a starter, but he has the potential for a big 2018 season. Draft him as a high-end TE2 with upside.

Bears | Trey Burton wants to be a leader

Tue, 03 Jul 2018 01:31:18 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton sees himself as someone who can be a leader in his first year with the organization. "I take a ton of pride in it," Burton said. "I'm not much of a vocal guy. I'm more of a one-on-one intimate type of communicator. I was a quarterback in high school. I had a great quarterbacks coach who taught me how to be a leader and how all the eyes are on you. Ever since then, I kind of ran with it."

Fantasy Tip: Burton is slotted to play a wide receiver/tight end hybrid role in new head coach Matt Nagy's offense, which is quite significant considering that's the role Nagy deployed star tight end Travis Kelce in when he was Kansas City's offensive coordinator. As a result, Burton deserves serious consideration as someone who has the potential to be a monstrous sleeper at his position.

Bears | Trey Burton to play hybrid role

Wed, 28 Mar 2018 06:45:17 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton will fill the "U" position in head coach Matt Nagy's offense, which is a receiver/tight end hybrid role similar to Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce's. "It's an important role," Nagy said. "It's easy to create some plays for. And when you have a guy that has the size that Trey has and the speed that he has, it's about mismatches."

Fantasy Tip: Burton is intriguing for his upside and skill set, but he hasn't proven he can do it over a full season. He'll be a TE2 with some upside.

Lions | Lions have interest in Trey Burton

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 22:21:35 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent TE Trey Burton has drawn interest from the Detroit Lions, who are being considered as one of the "serious suitors" for his services.

Fantasy Tip: With Detroit likely to move on from Eric Ebron, this move would make sense, though it's hard to determine if Burton could be a breakout candidate if he joins the Lions. After all, Ebron, despite his great physical gifts, never realized his potential with Matthew Stafford under center, so the same underachieving fate may await Burton if he arrives in the Motor City.

Dolphins | Ed Dickson, Trey Burton on Miami's radar

Wed, 07 Mar 2018 15:25:30 -0800

Carolina Panthers impending free-agent TE Ed Dickson and Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent TE Trey Burton are expected to receive interest from the Miami Dolphins during free agency.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins likely will be losing two tight ends this offseason, so Burton and Dickson could be starting options for them. Burton would have more fantasy value if he signs with the Dolphins and could be a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end, while Dickson likely would be a No. 2 tight end.

49ers | San Francisco could pursue Trey Burton

Wed, 07 Mar 2018 14:53:00 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent TE Trey Burton is expected to receive interest from the San Francisco 49ers during free agency.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers have George Kittle and Garrett Celek on the roster, but Burton likely would be a better option in the passing game if he joins the 49ers. Burton should receive a nice contract in free agency and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end for fantasy owners depending on his team.

Eagles | 16 teams interested in Trey Burton

Sun, 04 Mar 2018 07:02:34 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent TE Trey Burton had 16 NFL teams check in on his status this week. He is not expected to return to the team as they deal with salary cap considerations.

Fantasy Tip: The 26-year-old Burton had 23 receptions for 248 yards and five touchdowns in 2017 as a reserve for the Super Bowl champions but is likely to step into a starting job regardless of where he lands. For that reason, he should be viewed as a low-end TE1.
