Jaguars | Competition for Blake Bortles?

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 19:24:43 -0800

The Jacksonville Jaguars could select a quarterback in the first or second round of the 2018 NFL Draft to provide competition for QB Blake Bortles, according Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles' long-term future with the Jaguars remains in doubt, but he should at least be a quality QB2 in 2018. He has thrown more than 20 touchdowns in each of the last three seasons and has topped 300 rushing yards in all four years in the league.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles expected to stay

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 13:22:48 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (wrist) is expected to remain with the Jaguars despite recently undergoing surgery on his injured wrist, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport said the plan all along has been for Bortles to return as starter.

Fantasy Tip: The Jaguars have to be tempted to draft a quarterback in such a deep draft class, but Bortles improved in 2017 and quarterbacked Jacksonville to the AFC Championship. He has his fair share of mistakes, which he cut back on last season, but Bortles is an underrated fantasy quarterback thanks in no small part to his running ability.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles undergoes wrist surgery

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 20:56:01 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (wrist) had surgery on his right wrist Friday, Jan. 26, for a condition that had bothered him since December of 2016, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: As a first-round pick entering his fifth season, the surgery leaves Bortles in even more limbo, as his fifth-year club option is only guaranteed for injury. Bortles' place on the roster was already tenuous given the likelihood of quarterbacks such as Kirk Cousins and Alex Smith expected to be available and the Jaguars' new status as a place potentially available quarterbacks will want to go. At the moment, it's looking like Bortles may not be on the Jacksonville roster when the middle of March rolls around.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles wants to stay

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 14:47:39 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he would be "thrilled" to remain with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The fourth-year quarterback will be an impending free agent in 2019.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles did his part in leading the Jaguars to the AFC Championship. His numbers don't jump off the chart, but he made fewer mistakes than in previous years. His running ability makes him an underrated fantasy quarterback.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles falls short of Super Bowl

Sun, 21 Jan 2018 15:33:41 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 23-of-36 passes for 293 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles and his teammates were outscored 14-3 in the decisive fourth quarter to derail their chances at a first Super Bowl appearance, but it was a great season for the Jags. He finished the regular season with a 60.2 completion percentage, 3,687 yards and 21 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. As such, he'll be in the low-end QB1 fantasy discussion in larger leagues, but he should mostly be a QB2 in most formats.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles not on injury report

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 13:31:38 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (wrist) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 19, and is not on the injury report for the AFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles had a solid second half of the season and has posted decent numbers in the playoffs but will be facing a good New England Patriots defense in the championship game. He may not be asked to throw much during the game and can be a considered a risky fantasy option for owners.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles full go

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 13:48:49 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (wrist) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: There's a lot on Bortles' shoulders heading into the AFC Championship. He'll need to be mistake-free in order for the Jaguars to upset the New England Patriots. He'll be a borderline QB1, largely thanks to his running ability, going into the 2018 fantasy year.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles much worse on road

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 16:40:59 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles has averaged just 193 passing yards in away games this season while throwing six touchdowns and eight interceptions in those contests.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles and the Jaguars will be in Massachusetts this weekend in their toughest test of the year against the New England Patriots. The up-and-down quarterback has often been a weak link for the Jaguars, but has done enough to help get them to this point. That being said, he's not a legitimate QB1 candidate for next season but is capable of QB1 weeks.
