Buccaneers | Charles Sims expected to be fine

Sun, 19 Aug 2018 16:37:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (knee) did not suffer a serious injury in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 18, and he is expected to be fine for the start of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Sims is in a dogfight for a roster spot, let alone any fantasy appeal, as Shaun Wilson has impressed and so has Ronald Jones. Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers remain planted at the top of the depth chart, too. If Sims does make the team, he isn't likely to make much of an impact. Leave him to the waiver wire for now.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims' spot in danger?

Thu, 21 Jun 2018 22:59:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims could be beaten out for a roster spot by undrafted rookie RB Shaun Wilson, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine. Wilson showed good hands and special teams ability during the minicamp, and veteran RB Jacquizz Rodgers could also push for a third-down role.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims will have specific role

Thu, 17 May 2018 14:49:25 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is expected to be a third-down back this upcoming season because of his ability to pass protect and catch the ball out of the backfield, according to offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

Fantasy Tip: Sims has a good chance to make the 53-man roster and likely would see a handful of touches each game. He could be a late-round option in point-per-reception leagues but will not be a weekly starting option for fantasy owners.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims re-ups with Bucs

Thu, 26 Apr 2018 06:56:33 -0700

Free-agent RB Charles Sims (Buccaneers) agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, April 26. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Sims will slot in behind Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers, and there's a good chance they draft a running back this weekend. Sims has RB5 flyer potential, but there isn't much upside beyond depth.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers, Charles Sims are quiet

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 15:55:00 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Jacquizz Rodgers and Charles Sims played reserve roles in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers. With RB Doug Martin (concussion) out, Rodgers had three carries for 25 yards, and Sims totaled five touches for 41 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Sims and Rodgers were barely involved as Peyton Barber totaled 143 yards of offense. Barber is the only back with fantasy appeal if Doug Martin misses Week 14.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay to use RBBC without Doug Martin

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:43:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will most likely be the first- and second- down back, while Charles Sims will handle most of the third-down work and Peyton Barber will be the goal-line back while Doug Martin serves his season-opening three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: No real surprises here, although Laine points out Barber has improved quite a bit and may have been the most explosive back in camp behind Martin in the preseason. As things stand right now, expect Martin to handle the early-down and goal-line work upon his return, while Sims keeps his role and Rodgers becomes more of a handcuff.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims to be more involved?

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 20:43:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims showed good burst in practice Thursday, June 1, according to beat writer Jenna Laine, and Laine believes Sims could be used from the slot this season and will be more involved in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: At the very least, Sims should see some action on third down as a receiver out of the backfield. His value will only go up if he also lines up as a receiver. Grab him in the later rounds of PPR formats and see how his role develops.
