Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers, Charles Sims are quiet

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 15:55:00 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Jacquizz Rodgers and Charles Sims played reserve roles in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers. With RB Doug Martin (concussion) out, Rodgers had three carries for 25 yards, and Sims totaled five touches for 41 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Sims and Rodgers were barely involved as Peyton Barber totaled 143 yards of offense. Barber is the only back with fantasy appeal if Doug Martin misses Week 14.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers quiet in Week 12

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 13:17:35 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 31 yards on eight carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers may be the starting running back next week since Doug Martin is dealing with a concussion. He has not been a big factor since early in the season but could be a flex option in deeper leagues next week if Martin sits.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers quiet in Week 3

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:31:31 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 15 yards on five carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers did not run much during the game, but Rodgers received about half of the carries. He likely will start again in Week 4, but may lose the job when Doug Martin returns from suspension. Rodgers probably should only be considered a flex option in deeper leagues against the New York Giants.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay to use RBBC without Doug Martin

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:43:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will most likely be the first- and second- down back, while Charles Sims will handle most of the third-down work and Peyton Barber will be the goal-line back while Doug Martin serves his season-opening three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: No real surprises here, although Laine points out Barber has improved quite a bit and may have been the most explosive back in camp behind Martin in the preseason. As things stand right now, expect Martin to handle the early-down and goal-line work upon his return, while Sims keeps his role and Rodgers becomes more of a handcuff.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers could beat out Doug Martin?

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 12:16:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers has received plenty of praise from teammates and coaches about exceptional vision, toughness and his versatility, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine, who adds "there's always the possibility" Rodgers could remain the starter after Doug Martin returns from his three-game suspension to begin the season.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers filled in nicely when called upon in 2016, but he is a longshot to overtake Martin if the latter is in his 2015 form - as general manager Jason Licht said he is. Rodgers' 129 carries last season were by far the most of his six-year career. He would do well to hit that mark as Martin's handcuff in 2017.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers expected to step up

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 12:52:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers is being counted on to "step up" for the first three games of the season while Doug Martin serves the remainder of his PED suspension from last season, according to ESPN.com's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers, who reportedly dropped about seven pounds in the offseason, showed well when called upon in 2016. Owners looking to handcuff Martin should be looking initially at Rodgers, but his role beyond Week 3 is unclear. Still, he figures to be a popular DFS option early on and a solid play for zero-RB advocates in September.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers back with Tampa Bay

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 14:24:00 -0800

Free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers (Buccaneers) agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, March 9, worth $3.3 million, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers has a solid option for the Buccaneers in 2016 and finished with 560 yards and two touchdowns. He should continue to have a solid role in the offense and could have a chance to start depending on what the team does with Doug Martin. He probably should be considered a No. 3 or No. 4 running back in fantasy leagues.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers likely to stay

Tue, 07 Mar 2017 07:17:58 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers is expected to re-sign with the Buccaneers, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: With Doug Martin's situation with the team up in the air, Rodgers could be an RB3 flyer in fantasy drafts. He'll have value in any event. Stay tuned throughout the offseason to see how it unfolds.
