Tue, 21 Aug 2018 20:34:23 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and RB Devonta Freeman will not play in either of the last two preseason games, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said he did not want either to play in the preseason because of their injury histories.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman and Jones will be ready for the start of the regular season and both will be popular fantasy options in all leagues. Jones will be a No. 1 receiver and likely will be selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts, while Freeman can be a No. 2 fantasy running back.

Falcons | Julio Jones could miss all of camp

Tue, 24 Jul 2018 05:40:11 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is comfortable sitting out of the entire training camp, according to sources. He is seeking a contract adjustment, and the team made it clear they don't plan to give him one. His strong stance has surprised some in the organization.

Fantasy Tip: He's 29 now and constantly banged up. That's something to consider when selecting him as a WR1 in fantasy. He only caught three touchdowns last season as well, which was a career low for a full season.

Falcons | Julio Jones won't get new contract

Wed, 18 Jul 2018 22:30:40 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was recently informed that the team had not budgeted to renegotiate Jones' contract in 2018 and have no plan to give him a raise for the upcoming season, according to The Athletic's Jeff Schultz. The Falcons did promise to renegotiate after the season, however, and hope that Jones will report to training camp on time.

Fantasy Tip: This is surely not what Jones wanted to hear, but the ball is now firmly in his court. Does he report, play out 2018 and hope the team keeps its word? Or does he sit out and try to leverage a Falcons team with championship aspirations to the negotiating table? We'll know more on July 26, which is when veterans are due to report. For the time being Jones has to be considered as a solid WR1 based on a lengthy history of top-level production.
