Lions | Golden Tate never considered holding out

Sun, 29 Jul 2018 06:20:41 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate said he never seriously considered holding out even though the five-year, $31 million contract he signed prior to the 2014 season has been a relative bargain for the team. Tate is in the final year of his current deal but would prefer not to be actively involved in negotiations on a possible contract extension now that training camp has started.

Fantasy Tip: The soon-to-be 30-year-old Tate has caught 90 passes or more in each of the last four seasons, eclipsing the 1,000 yard mark in three of those campaigns. He should be viewed as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3, with added value in PPR fantasy formats.

NFL | Christian Kirk the next Golden Tate?

Sun, 28 Jan 2018 20:41:05 -0800

Texas A&M WR Christian Kirk reminds Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com of Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate because of his elusiveness after the catch, and Jeremiah believes Kirk can make a similar impact.

Fantasy Tip: Kirk's size and speed makes him a potential weapon in the slot, and while his landing spot will determine how quickly he can make a fantasy impact, Kirk should be one of the first few receivers off the board in rookie drafts.

Lions | Detroit not expecting to rest starters

Tue, 26 Dec 2017 10:21:34 -0800

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters Tuesday, Dec. 26, he has given no consideration to resting his starters in Week 17 versus the Green Bay Packers - including players such as QB Matthew Stafford, WR Golden Tate and WR Marvin Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Caldwell is coaching for his job and while it seems highly unlikely management will put any weight on his ability to win a meaningless game against a fellow non-playoff team, he apparently isn't leaving it to chance either. As such, it appears Stafford, Tate and Jones will all be reasonable plays in a plus-matchup for owners who need to concern themselves with such things in Week 17.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate caught three passes on five targets for 33 yards in a 20-10 win over the Chicago Bears Saturday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: It was a quiet evening from Tate, but while he has been a little more inconsistent than in recent years, he is still on pace for almost 100 catches. Keep starting him, especially in PPR formats.
