Texas Rangers LHP Martin Perez (elbow) has started throwing off a mound and appears to be slightly ahead of schedule in his recovery from a fractured right elbow. Perez believes he will be ready for the beginning of the regular season, although the club's initial reports indicated that he could miss the first few weeks.

The Texas Rangers have informed LHP Martin Perez that his $6 million option for the 2018 season will be picked up. Perez's contract also includes a $7.5 million option for 2019 with a $750,000 buyout and a $9 million option for 2020 with a $250,000 buyout.
