Bears | More expected out of Jeremy Langford

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 10:08:02 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford left some yards on the field in Week 1 versus the Houston Texans, according to head coach John Fox. "Well, I think we blocked up some runs pretty well. That's not an easy defense to run against, but I think there were some yards there, yards after the carry, I mean, yards after contact," Fox said.

Fantasy Tip: Langford posted the NFL's worst yards-after-contact average last season, which was a primary reason why the Bears drafted Jordan Howard this spring. Langford showed improvement in that area in the preseason and will probably get a bit more leash as the featured back before Fox considers going back to his preferred committee approach. Nevertheless, that looming threat may be enough reason for owners to consider trading him away sooner than later. For now, he's a solid RB2.

Bears | Coach unsure of Martellus Bennett's attendance

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 23:46:57 -0700

Chicago Bears coach John Fox is not sure whether TE Martellus Bennett will be at mandatory minicamp when it opens shortly. Bennett is pushing for a raise from the $4.9 million base he's scheduled to earn in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Now things could get serious for Bennett. The team can fine him if he misses the June 16-18 camp, so this situation bears watching. Bennett will be a decent TE2 presence in most fantasy drafts, but if he intends to hold out for a new deal it could get dicey.

Bears | John Fox non-committal on Jay Cutler

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 11:43:05 -0800

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler did not receive a vote of confidence from head coach John Fox. Fox said the team is still evaluating the position. Fox said he wants to get to know Cutler as part of that evaluation. "We're not up against a deadline," Fox said. "My experience has always been that you need to gather the information and in turn, you usually make better decisions. We're in that process, and we'll keep you posted."

Fantasy Tip: There is still a chance that Cutler could be traded before the beginning of next season. He should be considered a QB2 wherever he ends up, and a solid FantasyScore play when the matchup and price is favorable.
