Ravens | Joe Flacco sharp in exhibition action

Mon, 20 Aug 2018 18:15:56 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco finished 7-of-9 for 72 yards and one touchdown in Week 2 preseason action against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco connected with Michael Crabtree along the sideline on a 29-yard play before finding John Brown in the back of the end zone on a 7-yard throw. The 33-year-old has been on point so far in two preseason games, healthy after being dogged by injuries for the first half of last season. While he should not be viewed as anything more than an average fantasy QB2, a healthy Flacco should be good enough to make Crabtree and Brown relevant in fantasy.

Ravens | Joe Flacco showing off athleticism

Sun, 22 Jul 2018 13:44:25 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco is "moving and grooving better than he has in several years," according to offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco was limited throughout training camp and the early part of last season with a back injury, but ESPN's Jamison Hensley noted he looked nimble on a run-pass option and sprinted 20 yards during Sunday's practice. Flacco is locked in as Baltimore starter to be on the season, but the presence of Lamar Jackson will keep pressure on him throughout the season. He's an uninspiring QB2 in most leagues.

Ravens | Lamar Jackson being worked in

Fri, 20 Jul 2018 18:36:50 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was on the field at the same time as QB Joe Flacco for a few plays during training camp Thursday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is still expected to open the year as the starter, but Jackson may have some packages or at least some gadget plays. He probably needs an injury to Flacco to be a useful fantasy asset this year, but he's a must-own option in keeper formats because of his dual-threat potential.

Ravens | Joe Flacco worked with WRs last week

Wed, 18 Jul 2018 12:34:11 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco "got a lot of good work in" with his wide receivers last week, according to WR Willie Snead.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco hasn't usually been one to go the extra mile during the offseason, so it's reassuring to see him make the effort to build better chemistry with his receivers. There is an underrated crop of pass-catchers in Baltimore, but Flacco has proven time and again that he is not a reliable starting fantasy quarterback and he could eventually be overtaken by talented rookie Lamar Jackson.

Ravens | Joe Flacco putting in the time

Sun, 17 Jun 2018 20:20:41 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco said he plans to have throwing sessions with his receivers over the summer. "So we'll be getting together, and it'll be good for us," Flacco said.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is trying to develop chemistry with some new additions to the receiving corps, and the presence of Lamar Jackson probably adds a little motivation. Even with some extra work over the offseason, Flacco is a midrange QB2, at best.

Ravens | Joe Flacco more motivated

Wed, 13 Jun 2018 10:50:03 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco appears to be more motivated this offseason as a result of the Ravens drafting QB Lamar Jackson and signing QB Robert Griffin III, according to FS Eric Weddle.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco needed some motivation following a lackluster 2017 campaign. The starting job is his to lose as he enters his 10th season, but both Jackson and Griffin give Baltimore options and more creativity with play calling. As it stands, Flacco is cemented in backup fantasy quarterback territory.

Ravens | Joe Flacco focused on the present

Thu, 24 May 2018 11:46:58 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco was relatively mum regarding his opinion of the Ravens selecting QB Lamar Jackson with their first pick. "When you draft anyone in the first round, there is always a plan," Flacco said. "What that plan is? I don't know. I'm worried about right now."

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has to be a little miffed that his career-long franchise used their first-round pick on a fellow quarterback. Flacco's job is in trouble, but he was never a reliable fantasy asset anyway. He can be avoided in traditional leagues.

Ravens | Lamar Jackson will be understudy

Fri, 27 Apr 2018 20:53:25 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will not unseat QB Joe Flacco as the team's starter in 2018, according to head coach John Harbaugh. "Joe Flacco is our quarterback, and that's the thing that you've got to remember. Lamar's gonna have a great chance to develop. I think you get to this stage in a quarterback's career, you see it done in New England and you've seen it done in a lot of places," Harbaugh said.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson will be holding the clipboard, seeing his only game action in the preseason or if disaster strikes during the regular season such as a long-term injury to Flacco. Jackson is a nice dynasty pick in most fantasy leagues, but in seasonal plays he'll only be a waiver wire addition in season if he even sees the field at all.

Ravens | Lamar Jackson could take over in 2019

Thu, 26 Apr 2018 22:32:43 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is likely to sit for a year and then take over as part of an offensive overhaul in 2019, according to Ian Rapoport. QB Joe Flacco has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract after the 2018 season.

Fantasy Tip: There was little doubt when the Ravens moved up to take Jackson that he factored heavily in their long-term plans, but it sounds as though they may move on from Flacco in short order. While Jackson's 2018 fantasy value is nil, he has some appeal in keeper formats.

Ravens | Baltimore looking at quarterbacks

Fri, 02 Mar 2018 18:29:56 -0800

The Baltimore Ravens are doing "considerable work" on the quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL Draft, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, and La Canfora believes the Ravens could spend an early-round pick on a potential successor for QB Joe Flacco.

Fantasy Tip: Even if the Ravens go with a quarterback early on in the draft, Flacco should still be the starter next season. That said, he is a low-ceiling QB2.
